Fellowships

ASOPRS Fellowship

The Center for Facial Appearances is home to one of the premier ASOPRS fellowship training programs in the United States. Many of the top academic leaders in the country have been trained in this program, as can be seen by reviewing the list of alumni below.

This is a two year, ASOPRS approved fellowship program that begins in even years. The application process is highly competitive and the fellowship itself is extremely rigorous.   1. Submission of current curriculum vitae, photo is appreciated but optional.
  2. Submission of three letters of recommendation, including one from your current chairman.
  3. Deadline for reply is January 1st of the odd year prior to the even year the fellowship begins.

International Fellowship

The Center for Facial Appearances is home to one of the premier international training programs for ophthalmic plastic surgeons. Many of the top oculoplastic surgeons from around the world have been trained by the preceptors of this program, as can be seen by reviewing the list of alumni below. This is a very rigorous one year fellowship. The contact person for the international fellowship training program is Joy at (801) 363-3355 or joy@centerforfacialappearances.com. Requirements for application are listed below.

  1. Fellows must have completed ophthalmology training and many fellows accepted in the past have done a year of ophthalmic plastic surgery training elsewhere prior to beginning training in Salt Lake City. Preference is given to those with job commitments to return to a full-time University setting and to those with a history of research publications.
  2. Fellows are interviewed at the AAO national meeting two years prior to beginning training. To apply for the fellowship you must submit your curriculum vitae (including a recent photo, mailing address, phone, e-mail, date of birth, and country of origin), a personal statement, medical school transcript, and three letters of recommendation.

  4. The fellow is responsible to have sufficient funding to cover expenses related to food, lodging, medical insurance, travel and repatriation.
  5. International fellows are required to have a University of Utah sponsored J-1 visa which our office can help you obtain after acceptance into the program.
